Bernard "Ben" Hugo Kriska, 89, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, in St John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father Antonio Ormaza as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Ben was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Joe Stanley and Mary (Kubin) Kriska. He grew up in Ennis and attended St. John High School. He was married to Genora Rejcek on March 31, 1990. He served his country proudly in the United States Army serving during World War II as a PFC Military Police in the Asiatic Campaign from 1945 to 1946. Ben owned and operated a precision metal shop. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJT, Knights of Columbus, WFLA #401, American Legion, VFW, SPJST #84 and the Pecan Growers Association. He loved working with, growing and promoting the pecan industry which he received numerous awards and certificates for his hard work growing pecans. Ben loved polka dancing, festivals, and music. One of the great highlights of his life was when he was able to be a part of the Honor Flight that traveled to Washington D.C. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Marie Kriska on August 3, 1988; and siblings: Frances Moore, Helen Piraino, Joe Kriska and Larry Kriska. Survivors include his wife, Genora Kriska; brothers: Wesley Joe Kriska, and Franklin Kriska; sisters, Mary Kay Hollis and Dorothy Bjork; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and Nodya and Bill Thornton, Aaron and Duane Zepeda, and Matthew and Natasha Thornton; and great-grandchildren, Violet and Everett Zepeda.
