Bio

Eliza Gertrude Weikle, 98, of Lewisburg, WV, formerly of Sarton, entered her Heavenly Home on Sunday, March 24, 2019. She was born in Waitville on May 19, 1920 to the late Andrew E. and Nina Caldwell Weikle. Miss Weikle was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She spent her life helping others when needed; whether it be caring for children or those who were ailing, she was willing to lend a hand. To know Gertrude was to love her and be loved by her. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or life event and if she ever met you, she remembered you. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings, Sebert, Lamar, Armon, Alvin, Callie, Robert and Betty; sisters-in-law, Janice and Ova; nephews, James and Gary, nieces, Rebecca and Nancy and great niece, Jennifer. Gertrude is survived by one sister-in-law, Patricia Weikle; nephew and nieces, Sandy Weikle Bradley (Bill), Marcia Sue Weikle, Lois Weikle Southers (Bobby), Audie Lamar Weikle, Letha Weikle Rubino, Danny Weikle, Beverly Weikle Baldwin (Keith), Brady Weikle (Roberta), Carol Weikle Allen (James), Brenda Weikle Bostic (Ronnie), Michael Weikle (Patricia) and Greg Weikle (Donna); several great and great great nephews and nieces and many cousins and friends. Family and Friends may pay respects at the Groves- Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV on Friday, March 29th from 6-8 PM. There will also be a celebration of Gertrude’s life at the funeral home on Saturday, March 30th at 12:00 Noon with burial following at Mount Alexander Church Cemetery on Sarton Mountain.
