Floyd F. Turek Jr., 69, of Ravenna died Monday, March 25, 2019, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna with the Rev Richard Piontkowski officiating. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. Floyd F. Turek Jr. was born Aug. 18, 1949, in Grand Island to Floyd Sr. and Mary (Bujewski) Turek. He grew up in Gibbon and was educated at Gibbon Public School. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1968. He served in Vietnam-Dong Tam from 1969 to 1970. He was honorably discharged in 1972. Floyd married Lanaya Zeller on Nov. 22, 1975, at Sacred Heart Church in Shelton. The couple made their home in Gibbon. They later moved to their home near Ravenna. Floyd farmed and was employed by New Holland. He worked for Eaton Corp. for 23 years and retired at age 65. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Veterans of Wars Floyd was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed watching his grandkids' activities and spending time with them. He also enjoyed playing cards. He took pride in raising his Hereford cattle. Survivors include his wife, Lanaya of Ravenna; son, Kevin Turek of Ravenna; daughters, Anne Turek and her significant other, Chris Reyes, and Annette (Brian) Axmann, all of Kearney, and Nichole (Kelly) Bock of Ravenna; grandchildren, Meagan Reyes, Owen and Olivia Axmann and Hayden and Ali Bock; brothers, John Turek, Tom Turek, Charlie (Jennifer) Turek, Joe (Kathy) Turek and Robert Turek; sisters, Mary Mike (Dave) Temple, Rita (Mark) Czaplewski, Alice (Dan) Quick and Cathy (Mike) Spellman; brother-in-law, Kent (Sue) Zeller; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Lynn) Rogers; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Sr. and Mary Turek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Evelyn Zeller; sisters-in-law, Shanna Turek and Gayle Strohacker; nephew, Jacob Spellman; and niece, Theresa Dukesherer.
