Bio
Daughter of Edwin & Theresa (Preston) Bujewski. Graduated from St. Mathias High School in Muscatine in 1938; graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Davenport, Iowa, 1942; worked as a surgical nurse at University Hospital in Iowa City. Married: June 13, 1946, to Floyd Turek Sr. in Muscatine, Iowa. He preceded her in death. Lived and farmed north of Wood River until 1955; moved west of Gibbon to "Turek's" corner; moved to their current home north of Gibbon in 1975. Activities: in her youth, was a member of the school orchestra and played the viola; member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society; member of St. Mary's Altar Society in Wood River, the DCCW and the Sharon and Kenzington Extension Clubs; served on the Buffalo County Election Board; remained a licensed registered nurse until 1980; enjoyed raising a garden, making homemade bread and gathering her own eggs; prayed faithfully. Survivors include her sons, Floyd Jr. of Ravenna, John and Joe, both of Gibbon, Thomas and Charlie, both of Kearney, and Robert of York; daughters, Mary Temple of Bayard, Rita Czaplewski and Alice Quick, both of Grand Island, and Cathy Spellman of Shelton; sister, Marcella Schnedler of Muscatine; 26 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; also daughters-in-law, Lanaya Turek of Ravenna, Dee Turek and Jennifer Turek, both of Kearney, Kathy Turek of Gibbon and Shanna Turek of York; sons-in-law, Dave Temple of Bayard, Mark Czaplewski and Dan Quick, both of Grand Island, and Mike Spellman of Shelton; brother-in-law, Harry Schnedler of Muscatine; and special friends, Zygmund and Maria Raczinski of East Berlin, Wis. Was preceded in death by her husband; an infant brother and a granddaughter, Theresa Dukesherer.
