Bio
LENOIR Tilda McMillon, 84, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Shaire Center Nursing Facility in Lenoir, following an extended illness. Ms. McMillon was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Cocke County., Tenn., to the late Elder Henry Clay McMillon and Martha Williamson McMillon. Tilda and her husband, Ed Hollar owned and operated Connie Lee Hosiery for many years. She was a precious lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ms. McMillon was a deeply spiritual lady and enjoyed reading her Bible daily. She was a very loving and wonderful mother and adored family. She really enjoyed taking care of others. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Glenn Kirby; a daughter, Livia Bentley; brothers, Mac, Andy, Gordon, Goldman and Ken McMillon; and sisters, Flo Jenkins, Ila Wood, and June Enloe. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Connie Lee Barnhill and husband, John, of the home; a brother, Joe McMillon and wife, Doris, of Lenoir; a sister, Ruth Cone and husband, Robert, of Lenoir; grandchildren, Jessica Downs and husband, , of Roanoke, Va., Christine Kirby of Flagstaff, Ariz., Alex, Ben, and Nicklaus Barnhill, all of the home; and great-grandchildren, Marigold and Livia Downs, both of Roanoke, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 26, at 2 p.m., at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home, conducted by Elder John Jackson. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
