2019 © Home for Funerals Online; Norfolk, Nebraska; March 26, 2019 Geraldine was born July 25, 1934, to Albin and Mary (Martin) Cerny, at Clarks, Nebraska. She graduated from Madison High School in 1951. She married Merle Brandl on February 6, 1952. The couple moved to Fort Bliss, Texas for 2 years. They then moved to rural Humphrey, where they raised their family. She was a very caring and loving mother and wife. Geraldine enjoyed embroidering, dancing and spending time with her family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Norfolk, the Alter Society, Rosary Crusade and the Funeral Committee. She volunteered at Faith Regional Health Services. Geraldine died Sunday, March 24, 2019 surrounded by her family, at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Care Center. Husband Merle, their children, Marilyn, Linda, Karan, and Richard (Dick); 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, a sister, Joyce Meysenburg, and 2 brothers, Ed and Bill. She was preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandson Corban Nahrstedt, 1 brother Don Cerny and 1 sister, Arlene Weidner. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 7 pm with a rosary at 7, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Ave in Norfolk, Nebraska. Funeral services for Geraldine "Gerri" Brandl, 84, of Norfolk will be 10:30 am, Friday, March 29, 2019, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in St. Leonard's Cemetery, Madison. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
