From The Palmer Journal, Thursday, January 20, 1972, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Services Wednesday for Mrs. J. Gorgen - Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Solt & Byers Funeral Home in Central City for a long-time rural Archer resident, Mrs. John Gorgen, 75. Burial was in the Central City cemetery. Mrs. Gorgen, who passed away Sunday morning in a Central City hospital after a lengthy illness, was born at Clarks, September 3, 1896 to Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Walden. She attended Merrick county schools. She married John Gorgen at Osceola on April 26, 1916. They lived in North Bend and then on a farm in the Fairview community before moving to a farm near Archer. They moved to Central City in 1970. Survivors include her husband; 2 sons, John of Kearney and Floyd of Central City; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Wiedal of Hebron; 2 brothers and 9 grandchildren.
