Bio

Son of John H. & Evelyn M. (Walden) Gorgen. Married to Barbara A. Glotfelty on 10-7-1948 at Spokane, WA. US Army Air Corps Veteran. They made their home in Merrick County, NE. where they farmed until the early 1960s. Floyd was the City Clerk for Central City from 1961 to 1963 and then worked at Grosshans Implement from 1963 until 1967. On Jan. 1, 1967, Floyd took the office of Merrick County Clerk and held this position until his retirement in 1989. From 1982 until 2005, he served as the Merrick County Veterans Service Officer. Survived by his two sons – Tom and Beth Gorgen of Omaha and Dick Gorgen of Central City; five grandchildren – Matthew Gorgen, Sadie Gorgen, Maggie, Gorgen, Hayden Gorgen, and Carl and Susan Barnett; five great grandchildren; and one sister – Evelyn and Henry Wiedel of Hebron. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara on November 25, 2000; his brother – John Gorgen; and grandson – Kent Barnett.
