Bio
The Oakland Independent September 11, 1952 Walter Ivar Beckstrom, 41, died on Sunday at Bertha from a self inflicted gun shot. He was born Feb. 18, 1911 at Chicago, IL to Oscar and Anna Beckstrom. He attended Nash grammar school and Schurz high school in Chicago. He came to Oakland in 1933 and made his home with an uncle, Carl O. Beckstrom. He married Mabel Olson(daughter of Alfred & Signe Olson), of Bertha, on Dec. 15, 1937. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons; Ivar, Kenneth and Alfred, a sister, Mrs. Harold Peterson of Chicago, an uncle, Carl Beckstrom of Oakland and other relatives in Sweden. He was buried at the Baptist Cemetery south of Uehling.
