Robert K. Olmer, 90, of Humphrey, Nebraska, died Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 24 at 10:00 AM, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey with Fr. Patrick McLaughlin and Fr. Vernon Olmer con-celebrating the Mass. Interment with military honors will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4:00 PM and a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to those of the family or donor's choice. Robert "Bob" Killian Olmer was born August 23, 1928, in Humphrey, Nebraska, to John and Stella (Eisenmenger) Olmer. He was raised on a farm northwest of Humphrey. Bob attended grade school and high school at St. Francis Catholic Schools in Humphrey. Bob served in the United States Marines from 1951 to 1953. He was stationed in Korea from 1952 – 1953. On September 9, 1954, Bob was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Dina" Noonan at St. John's Catholic Church in rural Lindsay, Nebraska. From this union they had eight children. Bob farmed all of his life east of Humphrey and worked part-time as a plumber when time allowed. He was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the VFW. One of Bob's favorite past times was spending time with his children and grandchildren. His love for the farm was always evident as he enjoyed going out to the farm to help or just to tinker around. Combining in the fall brought him great joy. In the summertime, Bob enjoyed golfing with his buddy Ray, but throughout the year, coffee time with his buddies at Klub 81 was a must. A more recent highlight for Bob was attending the Korean Honor Flight in Washington with fellow veterans in March 2014.
