Duncan Banner, Wed., Feb. 20, 2008 Walters - WINONA AVIS DALRYMPLE BRILEY, 85, of Walters, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, in Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Walters. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church in Walters, with Dr. Kip Wright officiating. Burial will be in Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Winona was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Dill City, to Rollin and Nancy Elizabeth Shultz Harrelson. She married Eldon Dalrymple on Dec. 14, 1947. To this union were born two sons, Eldon Dwyann and Eugene Gilbert. Her husband preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1970. She was the area's first female barber and continued to barber for 48 years. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts for eight years, and a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent in 1975, and taught many Sunday school classes. She was a member of Walters Rebekah Lodge; district deputy president and past district deputy grand matriarch of Duncan Ladies Encampment Auxiliary No. 83; past president of Lodge Auxiliary Patriarch Militant of Chickasha No. 3; president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 155 for many years; secretary of the Moon Lighters Home Extension Club two years; a member of the Jaycee Jaynes; a member and secretary for two years of the Cotton County Art Council; and treasurer of Mountain View Helpmates Home Extension Club. She married Howard Briley on Oct. 6, 1984. He passed away Jan. 6, 1997. Survivors include a son, Dwyann Dalrymple and wife Lori Dalrymple of Duncan; a sister, Bernice Stafford of Moreno Valley, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Ann "Suzy" Warner and husband John of Edmond; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Dalrymple of Duncan; a stepdaughter-in-law, Annette Briley of Lawton; grandchildren, Paul Dalrymple and his wife April of Duncan, and their children, Austin, Bradley and Brianna, and Erin McAllister and her husband Josh of Houston, Texas; step-grandchildren, Micah Reynolds and wife Chandra of Duncan, and their children, Kaia and Kaleb, Tiata Sissons and her husband Kevin of Ada, and their children, Rebeka and Nathan, Joseph Reynolds of Norman, Destin Taylor of Duncan, Chris Warner and wife Deanna of Edmond, and their children, Kresha, Chance and Jacob, Matt Warner and wife Kimberly of Jones, and their children, Bailey and Matlyn, Shaun Briley and wife Rebecca of Lawton, and their children, Kelsea, Kyli, Kiersten and Karley, Scott Briley and wife Melia of Lawton, Dena Briley of Lawton, Maryann Warner-Homer and husband Chris of Edmond, and their children, Jarred, Forrest and Cody; and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Maggie, Wilma, Bessie and Gurtrude; five brothers, George, Everett, Vernie, Wilson and Harry; a son, Eugene Dalrymple; and a stepson, Richard Briley.
