Bio

Robert "Bob" Suhr, age 76, of Viroqua, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Vernon Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 29, 1930, to Anton and Eva Suhr in the town of Clinton, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Betty Clark on September 14, 1949 in Viroqua, WI. Bob worked as a patrolman for the Township of Clinton for 32 years until his retirement when he drove for Coulee Trails for a few years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also raced stock cars and was known as Grandpa Suhr #21.Bob enjoyed being active in the community, he served as an alderman on the Viroqua City Council for six years and also started a drive for the Veterans Memorial in Viroqua. He was a member of the Westby Rod and Gun Club, the Eagle's Club in Viroqua, a member of the NRA, and the Wisconsin Laborers Union Local #140. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Viroqua; children, Steven (Cheryl) Suhr of Janesville, WI, Chuck (Susan) Suhr of Westby, WI, David (Linda) Suhr of Cashton, WI, and Jimmie Suhr of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren, Cory (Kelly) Suhr, Kevin (Jenny) Suhr, Stacy (Scott) Volden, Tonya (Pat) Buchanan, Bobbie Jo (fiance' Brandon Haakenson) Suhr; great grandchildren, Bailey, Morgan, Hunter, Tyler, Scott, Sam, Taylor, Makenzie and Madyson; a sister, Edith Wallace of Viroqua, WI, sisters-in-law, Norma and Bernice Suhr; a brother-in-law, George Deal; a half brother, Le Roy and a half sister, Ada; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edwin and Victor, and infant brother, Laurence; and sisters, Luella Suhr and Isabel Deal. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ Church in Viroqua. Pastor Nathan Prong will officiate. Burial will follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
