Bio

Edwin M. "Ed" Suhr, age 77, of 216 E. Terhune St, Viroqua, Wis; died suddenly Saturday evening, March 6, 1993, at Vernon Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sept. 29, 1915, in Cashton, Monroe County, to Anton and Eva (Hams) Suhr. On Sept. 15, 1944, he married Norma Reed at the Viroqua Church of Christ parsonage. He and his wife farmed in the Viroqua area for 46 years, retiring and moving to Viroqua in 1990. He was a member of the Viroqua Church of Christ, had served on the church board and participated with the dartball team. He is survived by his wife, Norma; one daughter Trudy (Robert) Watters of Viroqua; two sons, Larry (Jackie) of Viroqua and Kenneth of Sanger, Tex; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Robert (Betty) Suhr of Viroqua; two sisters, Edith Wallace of Viroqua, and Luella Suhr of Red Wing, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lawrence and Victor Suhr, and one sister, Isabel Deal. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 10, 1993 at 1:30 p.m. at the Viroqua Church of Christ, with Pastor Ron Ahlgren officiating. Burial was in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends called Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua, where a prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Friends also called at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services. The family requested memorials to the new Viroqua Church of Christ building fund.
