Merlin Dee Isaacson 1931 - 2018 VETERAN Early Life: Merlin was born August 11, 1931, in Provo, Utah, to William Edward and May Brown Isaacson. He grew up on a farm in Pleasant View, near the location of the Provo Utah Temple and MTC are currently located. As a boy, he raised pigeons. He had wonderful penmanship and won many awards for it. Life's Work | Service | Interests: He attended Brigham Young University and played trumpet in the Cougar Marching Band. On May 19, 1950, married Carol Emma Watts in the Salt Lake Temple. Carol passed away February 10, 2017. Merlin served his country during the Korean War, helping the German reconstruction. Merlin loved airplanes and engines. He managed and then owned a service station in Provo. Later, he worked as a delivery and salesman. He enjoyed being in the canyons; the outdoors brought him solace and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Later in life, he dabbled in painting. He loved people, life, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Merlin served as bishop on the BYU campus, in several bishoprics, on the stake high council, YM president, high priests group leader, stake mission president and numerous other callings. Mostly he loved serving in the temple. Merlin Dee Isaacson passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018, in Provo, Utah. He was 87. Survived By: His children: Jeffrey Merlin (Darlene) Isaacson, Douglas John (Lani) Isaacson, William Scott (Annie) Isaacson, Sheri (Greg) Hills; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; as well as sisters, Carole May Cordner and Arline (LeRoy) Watkins.
