BIG SANDY — Funeral service for Mr. Stanley Jenkins, 78, of Big Sandy, will be held 2:00 P.M, Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Jerry Jenkins officiating. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Mr. Jenkins passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in Tyler. Stanley was born on December 22, 1939, in Jones County, Texas to Claude Jenkins, Sr. and Edrene Reynolds Jenkins. He served in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Jenkins married Tish Zimmerman on September 7, 1963 and they moved to Upshur County in 1968 to the Pritchett Community. He was a Constable for four terms, jail correction officer, a Upshur County Deputy, and the first resource officer for Gilmer Police Department. Mr. Jenkins raised cows, was a public servant for fifty years, he also enjoyed restoring old vehicles and his pride and joy was his 1950 model Ford pickup. Stanley was a member of Bethesda Masonic Lodge #142 A.F. & A. M., Past Master, Former District Deputy Grand Master, Gilmer Chapter # 355 Order of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Patron and Texas Associate of Law Enforcement for 34 years. He is survived by his wife, Tish Jenkins of Big Sandy; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Robert Cromley of Tyler; brother, Ennis Jenkins; grandchildren, Brent White and wife Crystal of Gilmer, Zach White and wife, Amanda of Big Sandy; four great grandchildren, Ashlyn White, Annsley White, Conrad White and Sawyer White.
