Bio

Helen Dolezal was born March 17, 1948 in Palacios, TX to Annie Jurasek Dolezal and Victor Dolezal. Helen was a graduate of Palacios High School and attended Wharton County Junior College. Helen began her career in healthcare at Wagner General Hospital in 1967. After obtaining her accreditation as an ART in the field of medical records, she continued her employment with the Matagorda County Hospital District until her retirement in 1997 after 30 years of service. During her tenure with the hospital district, she was Director of Medical Records, Medical Staff Coordinator and Administrator. In 2000, Helen went to work as a substitute teacher for Palacios Independent School District. In October 2002 she became a full time employee of PISD until her retirement in 2015. Helen was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Palacios, TX. Her past volunteer services included St. Anthony's Finance Committee, St. Anthony's Shrimporee Finance Committee, CCD teacher; Director of Palacios Medical Foundation; Director of the Palacios Friends of Elder Citizens; member of American Health Information Management Association, Texas Health Information Management Association, and Charter member of Texas Society of Medical Staff Coordinators. Helen was daughter to Annie & Victor Dolezal, sister to Billy Dolezal, Godmother to Tiana DiGiovanni Mortimer, Bryan Christopher Hairell, Gina Rosalie Roberts, and Brandon Lee Ferrell. Helen loved working with young people; seeing them become successful was a great joy to her. Her love for her family was unconditional. She enjoyed reading, attending Houston Astros games, dancing, attending concerts (she especially enjoyed the music of BJ Thomas, George Strait & Johnny Rodriguez), traveling and loved the color pink.
