Alfred Crider, Jr., 87, of Manchaca, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. He was born in Austin, Texas on November 26, 1930. Alfred graduated from Austin High School in 1948. After graduation he joined the Air Force, serving 3 years. He briefly worked as a typesetter for the Austin American Stateman. In 1966 he began working for the United States Post Office, retiring in 1998 after 32 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Crider, Sr. and Mattie Pope; son Louis Crider; and granddaughter Dawn Lynn Howard. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 19, 2018in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery on Twin Creeks Road. Alfred was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 19, 2018in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery on Twin Creeks Road. Honoring Alfred as pallbearers will be Sabrina Jordan, Dorothy Aguilar, Ronnie Harris, David Hellman, David Goss, Patrik Hellman, Chris Sikes, and Jon Sikes. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Crider and Steven Harris.
