Bio
Eliza Jane Gresham was born July 24, 1824 probably in Jones Co., Georgia. She was the eldest daughter of Edward "Ned" Gresham and Mary Hogue. She had seven other siblings. She married George Washington Wright Sr. November 20, 1843 in Meriwether Co., Georgia. She was the mother of nine children. Eliza died December 9, 1863 in Greenville, Meriwether Co., Georgia. She is buried beside her young daughter, her namesake Eliza Jane, and husband at the Flat Rock Primitive Church Cemetery near Greenville, Meriwether Co., Georgia. Eliza passed away while her husband was away serving as a Confederate Soldier during the Civil War--leaving her eldest daughter, Mary Ann, who was 19 years of age in charge of her eight brothers and sisters the youngest of them being but 2 years old.
