Bio
Stanley Joseph Modelski, son of John and Victoria (Siedlyk) Modelski was born on January 21, 1932 at the family farm in Boone County, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Krakow, NE. He attended school at Krakow, he then attended Genoa High School in Genoa, NE. Following high school, Stanley helped his father on the farm, as well as helping other farmers in the Fullerton area. On January 22, 1953 Stanley was inducted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on November 23, 1954. Stanley was united in marriage to Kathleen Ann Sawyer on September 26, 1959 at the St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE. To this union two daughters, Rhonda and Sheryl, were born. The couple lived in St. Edward for a couple months before moving to a farm near Fullerton where Stanley worked for Ralph Christensen Farms. The couple moved back to St. Edward, NE. In 1966 he worked at Saunders Archery in Columbus, and in 1979 the Coop in St. Edward, NE. Stanley retired in 1984. He was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church and was a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a 4th Degree Knight through the St. Boniface Chapter. Stanley was also a member of the Crosier American Legion Post #226 of St. Edward. Stanley enjoyed his polish music, slot machines, and beer. He also played baseball for the Genoa baseball team when he was younger, and in his later years golfed and bowled. Stanley enjoyed getting his coffee and donuts at the local establishments, especially his daughter's called the Bottle Barn because it was free. Stanley is survived by his wife Kathleen of St. Edward, NE; two daughters: Rhonda (Mark) Ehlers, Sheryl (Greg) Rosno both of St. Edward, NE; five grandchildren: Chase Ehlers of Elkhorn, NE; Whitney (Eric) Smith of St. Edward, NE; Natalie (Frank) Finkral of Norfolk, NE; Alicia Rosno of Lincoln, NE; Nick (Danielle) Wieser of Glenrock, WY; four great-grandchildren: Ava Smith, Kaysen Finkral, Emma and Miles Wieser; sisters-in-law: Bertie Modelski of Columbus, NE; Diana Schroeder of Madison, NE; Ethel Sawyer of Howells, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Eddie (Esther), John Jr., Michael, Leo (Barbara and Esther), and Virgil Modelski; Minnie Richardson, Mary Dorothy (Frank) Szatko, Helen (Walter) Sokol, Stella (Alva) Cruise; In-laws: Duane (Connie) Sawyer, John "Jack" Sawyer, and Ron Schroeder.
