Bio
Stella Victoria (Modelski) Cruise was born Jan. 4, 1925, on a farm near St. Edward. She was the daughter of John and Victoria (Siedlyk) Modelski. She grew up in rural St. Edward and attended District 26, as well as Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Krakow. She was married to Alva M. Cruise on April 16, 1945. Stella worked at Keefer's Cafe, Vi's Cafe, Thompson Convalescent Home and Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward. She moved to Norfolk in 1983, where she worked at the Norfolk Nursing Center until retiring in 1988. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards and bingo, as well as dinners out with friends and family. Stella loved to listen to polka music and had a zest for life that was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Norfolk. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jarecki and spouse Charles of Norfolk; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Stanley Modelski and spouse Kathleen of St. Edward; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Alva, in 1979; her parents; five brothers and three sisters.
