Bio

Eleanor Svoboda, 91, of Bruno, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. Eleanor was born April 29, 1927 at Brainard, Nebraska to Anton J. and Matilda (Sedlacek) Navratil. She attended school at Brainard. On April 19, 1951 she was united in marriage to Jerry Kobza. Jerry died April 22, 1954. Eleanor married William G. Svoboda on April 9, 1958, at St. Anthony’s Catholic church in Bruno. One daughter, Deb was born to this union. William and Eleanor farmed in the Bruno area. William passed away November 16, 2003. Eleanor had lived in David City for 3 years, and has resided at the South Haven Living Center in Wahoo since April 1, 2014. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bruno, member of the Altar Society and cleaned church linens, cleaned the church and rectory. Eleanor is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Deb (Arnold) Heyen of Ceresco, Grandchildren, Nikki (Bobby) Heyen Draper of Valparaiso, Tyler Heyen and fiancé Alysha Johnson of Ceresco, Amber Heyen of Ceresco, Ashley Heyen of Ceresco and Great Grandson Chase Draper of Valparaiso. She was preceded in death by husbands, Jerry Kobza and William Svoboda, Brothers, Louis, Bill, Ed, Emil and Joe Navratil. Sisters Agnes Hauschild, Helen Cerny, Sophie Ptacek, Dorothy Strizek and Bertha Hausner. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, October 23, 2018 10:00 a.m. St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Bruno Rev. Ronald Homes, Celebrant Visitation Monday, October 22, 2018 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Rosary 7:00 p.m. All at the church Visitation Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at church.
