Obituary in Lufkin Daily News, Jan. 30, 1965 Robert L. Scarborough, Sr., 77, widely known Texas poet and native of Lufkin, died at St. David's Hospital in Austin at 6:30 p.m. Friday. He had been in ill health for the past year. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Weed-Corley Chapel in Austin, followed by interment in that city. Mr. Scarborough was born and raised in Lufkin. Two books of his poems were published and prior to moving to Austin, a number of his poems appeared in The Lufkin News. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dora E. Scarborough; five sisters, Mrs. Lollie B. Boykin, Sr. of Lufkin, Mrs. W. A. Brashear of Palestine, Mrs. J. L. Heath, Mrs. Amanda Yeates and Mrs. Nora Flack, all of Beaumont, and two nieces, Mrs. Guy Croom and Mrs. Arthur Bresie, of Lufkin.
