CAMP VERDE, Ariz. — Richard T. McDonald, 91, of Camp Verde, Ariz., passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 2, 2018. He will be laid to rest after receiving an honorable discharge from the Army at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, at 11 a.m. on Sept. 24. He was born in Rockville to Richard T. McDonald and Rose (Kastl) McDonald. He was the third born of seven. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in World War II. He attended the University of Nebraska where he received his medical degree. He was a general surgeon at the Flagstaff Community Hospital, Flagstaff, Ariz., for 20-plus years, serving the community and raising his family. He retired to ranch life, relocating to Medicine Man Ranch, in Camp Verde, Ariz., where he bred, raised and showed national and world champion appaloosa horses. He lived a very fulfilled life, both professionally and personal. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Annette M. McDonald; two daughters, Tracy Marvelle and Leslie Woolery; two sisters, Joan Muhvic and Barbara Lutey; and two brothers, Joe and Francis McDonald. He was preceded in death by his older sister, Patty Cannizarro; and a brother, Charles McDonald.
