Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Thursday, 20 April 1911 Mrs. Magdalena Christina Timpke, one of the pioneer settlers of Hall county, and a well known resident living southwest of the city, passed away yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at her home, after an illness of about three weeks of heart trouble. Until her recent affliction, Mrs. Timpke was enjoying fairly good health. Mrs. Timpke lived to be sixty-five years of age. She was born in Holstein, Germany, in 1846, and when sixteen years of age came to this country and direct to Omaha where, in the year 1864, she was united in marriage to Henry E. Timpke. In the summer of the same year the young couple started out from Omaha in a covered wagon drawn by a team of oxen, came west, and located on their homestead now well known as the Timpke farm, and adjoining the city on the southwest. Together they toiled and suffered the hardships of the early days, but like all the other settlers in this community, were thrifty and endured until the conditions improved with time. Mr. Timpke departed this life about four years ago. Eight children, all grown, are left to mourn the loss of their mother. They are: Herman Egge, of Anaheim, Cal.; Mrs. Henry Faldorf, Mrs. Henry Ehlers, Mrs. J. M. Leonard, of Salt Lake City; O. A. Timpke, of Anaheim, Cal.; Henry Timpke, Mrs. D. I. Parker and Fred A. Timpke. The time for the funeral has not been deceded upon, but it will probably take place Sunday if relatives arrive in time from the west.
