Bio

Thomas Hill Stockard, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away at home surrounded by the love of his family and in the arms of his loving wife on Saturday, September 1, 2018. Tom was born on December 6, 1935 in Jacksonville, TX to parents Leonard and Ellen Stockard. He graduated from Frost High School in 1954 and went to work for the Hoover Company in Houston, TX. In 1959, Tom opened his business, City Vacuum, which he operated until his retirement in 2010. Tom was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved spending time outdoors at their property in Bastrop, TX. His family will cherish all the memories of water skiing, camping, the legendary Easter egg hunts with the grandchildren, and the decades of large family gatherings at their home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tom loved to read, had a passion for history, and always enjoyed a lively debate. He and Margie traveled abroad with trips to the Holy Land, Medjugorje, and Malaysia among his favorites. His humbleness, gentle spirit, kindness, and wisdom will be missed by all. Preceded in death by his parents, Tom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margie Stockard; children, Denise Cooper (Darrell), Greg Stockard (Lisa), Terese Landry (Matt), Patrice Rodriguez (Arnold), Mark Stockard (Paige); grandchildren, Trey Cooper (Annie), Thomas Cooper (Casey), Julie Cooper, Travis Stockard (Brittney), Hunter Stockard, Katie Cardenas, Lauren Cardenas, Steven Cardenas, Melody Hodges (Caleb), Garin Landry (Jordan), Nathan Rodriguez, Monica Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Kirby Stockard, Matthew Stockard, Claire Stockard; great-grandchildren, Connor and Liam Cooper, Maddie and Mackenzie Cooper, and Catherine Stockard; sisters Deana Person (Dwain), Jerry Ermis (Victor); brothers-in-law Floyd Ermis (Sandy), Victor Ermis (Jerry); god-daughter Danielle Ermis; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00-6:45 pm followed by the Rosary at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 5 at Knesek Funeral Chapel located at 1140 Meyer St Hwy 36, Sealy, TX 77474.
