Norbert Andrew Schmidt, 90, of Richmond, passed away September 1, 2018. He was born on June 13, 1928 in Hillje to the late William and Sophia Holub Schmidt. Norbert served in the 20th Air Force during World War II. He worked in the petroleum engineering business. Norbert loved hunting and doing his own taxidermy. He is survived by his daughter, Katherine A. Schmidt Rulau (Kat) and husband “Jake” of Rosenberg; son, John Kennedy and wife Terrie of Llano; grandson, Mason A. Boehnemann of Rosenberg and numerous nieces and nephews. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dora Ann Schmidt; son, Everett J. Kennedy; brothers, William H. Schmidt, John Alfred Schmidt, Leon Edward Schmidt and sister, Elizabeth Schmidt Skrovan. Visitation begins 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 4 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with a Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. with Rev. Michael Rother officiating. Burial under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251 will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Kennedy, Robert, Greg, Bill, Charles and Rick Schmidt. Honorary pallbearer will be Pat Skrovan. Memorial donations in memory of Norbert may be made to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church or Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174.
