Obituary from Albany Ledger, found in Albany, Missouri library, dated 20 Nov 1913, p.4, Died at 87 years, Mrs. Mary Akes, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Parks, near Matkins, last Friday, Nov. 14, at the advanced age of 87 years 3 months and 7 days. She was born in Indiana 7 Aug 1827 and had lived for many years in this locality. She was untied in marriage to Granville during the year 1840. To this union 12 children were born, 6 boys and 6 girls. At the age of 13 she obeyed the voice of the Master and united with the U.B. Church and had lived a consistent Christian life ever since. She leaves 1 daughter, 4 sons, many grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her departure. The funeral services were conducted by the writer at Jones Chapel, Sunday evening, Nov. 16 where a large concourse of relatives and friends had gathered to pay their tribute of love to one worthy of their highest esteem.
