Bio

Samuel Willie "Sammy" Heidrich, 69, of Bay City passed away August 19, 2018. He was born December 27, 1948 in Lavaca County, Texas to the late Werner Fritz Heidrich and Ellenora Marburger Heidrich. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and a life member of Philip H. Parker VFW Post 2438. He loved family, fishing and Freckles, his beloved companion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Danny Heidrich and brother-in-law Galon Mills. Survivors include daughters Barbara Chevalier-Gutierrez (Simon) of Murphy, TX, Sharon Long (John Fierro) of Bay City and Christi Anderson (Bobby) of Ft. Smith, AR; sisters Mabel Miller (Donnie) of Bay City, Carolyn Mills of El Campo, Alice Davis (Gary) of Bay City, Lenora Mowdy (Clark) of Victoria and Sharon Bratton (Ronnie) of Victoria; brothers Michael Heidrich (Judith) of Victoria and Werner Heidrich, Jr. of Wharton and grandchildren Chad Cox, Cory Gryphon, Bryan Chevalier, Eric Heidrich, Alisha McDonald, Damien McDonald, Casandra and Debbie Montebello, Shy Kruger, James Anderson, Robert Anderson III and Sammy Anderson. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday August 22 at Taylor Bros Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Nichols St. Church of Christ with Matt Springfield officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. His nephews, Gary Wayne Davis, Robert Davis, Galon Mills, Jr, Chris Heidrich, Brent Heidrich, Eric Heidrich, Donald Bruce Miller, Jr., Ronnie Bratton III, Charlie Mills, Jay Mowdy will serve as pallbearers. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to: VFW Post 2438, 1672 Hwy 60 N, Bay City, TX 77414.
