Son of Constantine & Anna ('Fallon) Mares. He attended Schuyler public schools. On September 11, 1940 he was united in marriage to Reta A. Bolt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Jack served in the U.S. Army from October 1943 till February 1946. He participated in the invasion of Okinawa, serving in the 10th Army 87th Field Hospital Wing. After being discharged as a Tech 5 from the military he worked for Leo Dowd in the car and oil business for twenty years. Jack enjoyed traveling and gardening. He is survived by: Son: John C.
