Bio
Weldon T. Jones passed away peacefully at the Masonic Home in Union City, California on March 7, 2017 at the age of 96. He is preceded in death by his daughter Patricia, son Craig, and brothers Wilbur Lindsey Jones Jr. and Bill N. Jones. Weldon was born on April 26, 1920 in Slaton, Texas to the late Wilbur L. and Mildred Allen Jones. He married Mary Lou Allen, his childhood sweetheart in 1941. He received his call up to the 3rd Army the day he found out that Mary Lou was pregnant. As a member of the 3rd Army he was sent to fight in the European theatre. After the war, he was able to finally hold his daughter who had been born while he was deployed. Weldon and Mary Lou were the co-owners and operators of Weldon's Men's Shop in Taft, California from 1959 until their retirement in 1985. He was an active and dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Taft and the Taft-Midway Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. A funeral service in Taft is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. March 17 at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
