Bio

W.L. Dub Jones, a long time Houston resident passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the age of 96 years. He was born on Jan. 26, 1918, in Whitewright, Texas, to the late Wilbur L. and Mildred Allen Jones Sr. Mr. Jones attended Texas Tech University, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Agronomy. He was employed in the Agricultural Chemical Industry as a researcher for the USDA, and as a salesman, and then a regional manager for Rhodia Chemical Corporation. Dub Jones was a kind, caring, and gentle man with few words, however, it was his personable and warm demeanor that earned him the reputation of never having met a stranger. He loved spending time with his family and cherished treasured moments with his grandchildren who knew him as granddad and Doodad. Dub was a committed husband, and dedicated himself to taking care of his wife, Elouise, for years before she finally passed away in 2007. He was loved and adored by family and friends and he will be truly and forever missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elouise Appling Jones; his daughter-in-law, Lili Jones; and a brother, Bill N. Jones. Survivors include his brother, Weldon T. Jones of Union City, California; three sons, W. Lin Jones, M.D. and wife, Candace, Stanley C. Jones, M.D. and wife, Kathi, Kent Jones and wife, Johnann, all of whom live in Houston; ten grandchildren, Derek C. Jones, M.D. and wife, Lori, Jana Hopkins and husband, Josh, Juli Japhet and husband, Dan, Stanley C. Jones and wife, Lauren, Lindsey Roberson and husband, Phil, Jessica Meyer and husband, Peter, Sofie Jones and Jennifer, Patrick and Jacqueline Jones. Other survivors include ten great-grandchildren and two former daughters-in-law, Sandy Jones and Molly Lottridge. The family wishes to express deepest appreciation to LaVernon Thomas, James Shine, Willes Washington and Jimmie Ashford for their love, care and concern for our dad. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5 to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, April 8, in the library and the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. A funeral service in Houston, is to be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
