Mother's Maiden Name: Bobbitt Ernest L. Boyd, 81, died yesterday afternoon at a local hospital. He had been in ill health a few weeks. Boyd, whose home was at 330 Sixth avenue, had been active in the work of the Christian church and he and his wife were in charge of the Old Folks Christian home at Long Beach for several years until the home was moved to San Gabriel. Born in Albany Mo., Boyd lived there until he was 12 years old when the family moved west to Kansas. In 1893 the family moved on to the Renville, Okla., area, then Indian territory. He lived in the state many years, serving as postmaster at Cooperton, Okla., 14 years. In 1920 he came to California and bought property in Santa Cruz. From here he moved to Long Beach for the Christian church work, and after his years in Long Beach lived two or three years in Los Angeles before returning here in 1932. His wife, the late Sarah Ida Boyd died in April, 1948. He is survived by a brother, R. P. Boyd of Los Angeles and several nieces and nephews. Rev. D. B.
