Bio

Hattie Bougger, of David City, died Monday at the Butler County Healthcare Center in David City. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Eickhoff, Fr. Brian Connor and Fr. Bernard Kimminau, Concelebrants. Visitation was held Wednesday from 3-6 at Kracl Funeral Chapel, with Rosary Service at 6 p.m. Visitation continued Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. Committal was in St. Mary's Cemetery in David City with lunch following at the Knights of Columbus Hall in David City. Hattie was born in Appleton to B.J. and Anna (Justyn) Kopecky. She attended grade school at Marietta (Presentation Parish) and following graduation attended Kearney State Teacher's College where she earned a Teacher's Certificate. She taught school at St. Wenceslaus School in Wahoo and Districts 19 and 42 in Butler County. On August 26, 1935 she and Leo Bougger were married by Msgr. John Ekeler at Presentation Catholic Church. Hattie enjoyed traveling, gardening, raising flowers and fancy work. She volunteered for projects such as CROP and other Butler County activities. She also served on the jury for the Federal Court in Lincoln. In later years she liked working crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church for 74 years, did Altar care and furnished flowers for Sunday Masses. She was President of the St. Francis Altar Society for many years and always worked the Parish Spaghetti Dinner. Hattie is survived by three daughters, two sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; parents; one sister, Ann Widener; and three brothers, Steve, Rudy and Joe Kopecky. Arrangements by Kracl Funeral Chapels of David City.
