Thanks to contributor #48786212 Mrs. Lydia Smith dies, services will be Monday (Saturday 7-10-1965) Mrs. Lydia Smith, 88, of Rt. 3 died suddenly Thursday at her home. Last rites will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gass Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran church. The Rev. A. H. Guettler is to officiate and burial will be in Columbus cemetery. The daughter of John and Mathilda Marohn Keller, she was born Feb. 1, 1877, in Colfax county (Richland), and attended Colfax District 23 school. Her marriage to Jacob Smith took place March 17, 1897, at Schuyler, and they made their home in Colfax county. They moved to Merrick county in 1926. Mrs. Smith had lived in Columbus since December 1951. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and the Country Ladies Aid. Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Hulda) Behle of Columbus, Mrs. W. R. (Augusta) Trail of Denver and Mrs. Albert (Ethel) Gesch of Tacoma, Washington; seven grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Keller of Schuyler and Henry (Henry J.) of Columbus; and one sister Tidy of Schuyler. She was preceded in death by her husband; six sisters; Priscilla, Manny (Mamie), Nettie, Ona (Leona), Lottie, and Lizzy (Elizabeth); and two brothers, Henry and Alfred.
