D. Wayne Janssen, 80, of St. Libory passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard and Grand Island Veterans Honor Guard. Wayne was born on September 10, 1937 in Greeley County, son of Karl and Minnie (Luethje) Janssen. He grew up in rural Greeley and Hall County, graduating in 1955 from Grand Island Senior High School. After graduation he promptly enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his time in the service he was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, Japan and Guam. On December 27, 1965 he was united in marriage to Eileen Baade, following their marriage they made their home in St. Libory. After Wayne was discharged from the service he began employment at Holcomb Hatchery. He soon purchased the hatchery and began raising different breeds of chickens and for a time, pheasants. Wayne was a proud member of the NRA and an avid hunter. On family hunting trips they would hunt for coyotes and deer as well as small game. He was also an avid reader. He enjoyed reading westerns and old hunting magazines. His patience and respect will always be cherished by his family. He is survived by his wife, Eileen of St. Libory; daughters, Susan (Roy) Zierott of Hampton and Mary Ray of Kearney; grandson, Justin (Toni) Zierott; great-grandson, Parker Zierott; nephew, Paul (Connie) Janssen of Alpharetta, GA; along with numerous extended family and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by parents, brother, Leonard, sisters, Katherine and Ellen.
