Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent December 1978 Karl Fredrick Janssen, 76, of 610 N. Darr died Monday at a local nursing home. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. A.K. Saul will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Mr. Janssen was born Feb. 10, 1902, at Platte Center, the son of August and Katherine Gerhing Janssen. He received his education in Platte County schools and in 1920 moved to a farm near Greeley. He married Minnie Luethye in 1924 in Greeley County. They farmed near Greeley until 1941 when they moved to Grand Island. Mrs. Janssen died in 1962. He was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 378 in Grand Island. Survivors include two sons, Leonard of Grand Island and Wane (sic) of St. Libory; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Ellen) Roach of Butte; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Otto of Greeley and Emil of Scotia, and two sisters, Lydia Berg of Arkansas and Louise Johnson of Greeley. He was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and one sister.
