Harry Lee was born June 10th, 1931 to Harry Snider and Elsie Lee (Lowell) Snider, and peacefully passed to his heavenly home on June 13, 2018. Born in Choctaw, Oklahoma, his family soon moved to Moore, where he spent the rest of his life. He attended Moore Schools where he was a star athlete, beginning as a freshman in basketball. He excelled in football, which garnered him a home visit from Bud Wilkinson when he scored all of the points in a 3-2 Moore win by kicking a field goal for Moore after being tackled in the end zone for a safety by the opposing team. He was also a standout trombone player in the school band. During his years at Moore High, he met and married the love of his life, Betty Snook. They were married August 11, 1949 and began their family. Harry began his career as a truck driver when just a youth working on his uncles' farms. He continued working for various trucking companies through the years, including J.H. Rose, H.J. Jeffries, and almost 20 years with TransCon Lines. He eventually purchased his own semi, and leased to Turner Brothers until his retirement. During his various travels through the years, he came upon a group that was dedicated to administering Christian principles to other truck drivers by way of small chapels set up at various truck stops. He was led in the early '70s to carry this message to Oklahoma through Transport for Christ Ministries, arranging for a local chapel to be set up in OKC. He was designated as Chaplain, which he served as for many years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty L., and son, Curtis E. Snider, as well as many other family members. He is survived by his son, Lee Snider, and daughter, Phyllis Boyer, both of Moore. Also survived by grandsons Jay Snider of Oregon; David Snider and his family, wife Rebecca, son Barron and daughter Adeline of Dallas, TX; Curtis Lewis and his family, wife Chrysta, daughters Allie, Kylie, and Maegan, and son Aidan of Moore. Special acknowledgement needs to be given to grandson Curtis and his wife Chrysta for inviting Harry into their home and providing him with the best of care during his remaining time here on earth. Lee and Phyllis are very grateful for all their help and loving care. The family requests that contributions be made to the OU Foundation Stephenson Cancer Center in lieu of flowers. Services will be held at John Ireland Funeral Home in Moore on 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 16, 2018, with viewing 10:00 AM, Friday, June 15th.
