In Memoriam OSCAR MOORE March 26, 1914 ~ July 29, 2002 Funeral services for former ZBethel resident Oscar Moore, 88, Longview, Wash., were at noon Friday in Beacon Hill Baptist Church, Longview, Wash., with the Rev. David Rouse officiating. Burial was in Longview Memorial Park under the direction of Steele Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Moore died July 29 at his home. He was born March 26, 1914, in Bethel, the son of James E. and Isbelle Weeks Moore. He was the youngest of 13 children and was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters. He moved to Longview, Wash., in 1942 with his wife, Vernis, and worked at Weyerhaeuser from 1942 to 1975, retiring as a caption in the Weyerhaeuser Fire Department. Mr. Moore was a charter member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a skilled carpenter and sang professionally with gospel music groups. Survivors include his wife, Vernis Moore, Longview, Wash.; a son, Jim Moore, Kenmoore, Wash.; a daughter, Phyllis Harrison, Longview, Wash.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
