WILSON Graveside services for Margaret Elizabeth "Keenon" Shawn, 78, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hewitt Cemetery with Brother Bruce Almy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home. Born Dec. 22, 1928 at Tishomingo to Vardie Lee and Lucy Ellen Neely Keenon, she died April 20, 2007 at Wilson. She married Buford Allen Shawn Aug. 10, 1946 at Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death May 21, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Delbert Keenon. Raised in the Fletcher area, she attended Fletcher schools. She and Buford were residents of Carter County most of their married life, except when they owned and operated a typewriter business at Altus for four years. Residents of Wilson since 1977, Margaret worked as a cook at Wilson Nursing Center until 1985. She was a very tender hearted, loving person. She loved her family and loved being their "Grammy." She always enjoyed crocheting, gardening and canning and was an excellent cook. Her family found comfort in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church at Wilson. Survivors include daughter, Glenda Wallis and her husband, Clelan, Wilson; three granddaughters, Stacy Patterson and her husband, Ferrell, Ada, Tara Smith and her husband, Darryl, Morton, Texas, and Lorie Wallis, Collinsville; sister, Estalee Brinkley, Lawton; brother, Vardie Lavern Keenon and his wife, Maxine, El Reno; sister-in-law, Beverly Keenon, Houston; and numerous other family and friends. Bearers are John Brinkley, Bryan Burke, Paul Ashwood, Donald Eversole, Keith Gibbs, Darryl Smith and Shawn Smith. Honorary bearers are the Joy Sunday School Class of Wilson First Baptist Church. Visitation is 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
