Bio
Judge Thomas "JT" Sims, 84, of Dallas, passed away on May 13, 2018. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park. JT was born in Dallas, Texas, to the late Fordyce Clark and Hester Chauvin Sims, and grew up in Cedar Hill, Texas. He was very active at the First United Methodist Church and devoted time in developing the Youth Fellowship with his first wife, Diana. In addition, he served as the President of the Cedar Hill Jaycees. JT worked in Dallas for Lincoln National Life Insurance and retired in 1993. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Garland where he served as a Deacon for 19 years. He was an active volunteer at FBC’s Friendship House for 13 years. He was in the Praise Singer Choir for 18 years and assisted Carlene with Homebound Ministry for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diana Schoppaul Greer; brothers, Fordyce and Lowell; and sister, Sarah Sims. Survivors include his wife, Carlene Sims; sons: Steve Sims and his wife, Kathy, and Brad and Kevin Sims; stepsons, Todd and Linda, and Keith and Sherry Yancey; grandchildren: Austin and Dani, Conner, Lillian, Pippa and Roland Sims, Kayla, Preston, and Eric Yancey; brother, Jerry Sims; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
