Donald D. "Cap" Svoboda, 85 years, of Lincoln, NE formerly Fremont, NE passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln. Cap was born February 4, 1933 to Orland and Gustie (Fencl) Svoboda in Morse Bluff, NE. He grew up on a farm near North Bend, NE where he helped his father farm. He later moved to Fremont and married Charlotte "Lucy" Shada on November 2, 1952 at St. James Episcopal Church in Fremont. He and Lucy owned Phil's Drive In Café. He later became a salesman at Wimmer's Meats for 30 years until his retirement. Cap loved to hunt, fish, and spend time doing yard work. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and granddog. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 1 brother and 1 sister. He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Luther) Heckman of Lincoln, NE; and grandchildren Katie and Andrew. Funeral Service will be 10:30, Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Diana Kuhl will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
