Obituary for Patty Darlene McClendon Darlene McClendon, 82, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on June 16, 1935 in Leedey, Oklahoma to Perry Hollis and Monty Mary (Brinley) Ivy and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Elk City Nursing Home. She married Orvil Eugene “Gene” McClendon on October 27, 1955 in Elk City, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2017. Darlene was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. Her hobbies included listening to gospel music and watching Thunder basketball. Her true passion was helping and caring for other’s as a nurse. A Celebration of Darlene’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2018 at Main Street Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Darlene will be remembered for her loving touch and caring ways by her family, friends and all those she came in contact with. Cherishing her memory are her son, Virgil McClendon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Lynn Welden and husband, Bill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Michael McClendon and wife, Amy of Norman, Oklahoma, Ashley Welden, Cole Welden, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kayla Stephens and her husband, Caleb, Lynzi McClendon, Shyanne McClendon, all of Lumberton, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Jane Ivy and Emma Jean McClendon, both of Norman, Oklahoma, Kylee, Jace, and Madison Stephens, all of Lumberton, Texas; sister, Colleen Peck of Elk City, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her husband Gene McClendon, parents, Perry and Monty Ivy; son, Monty Gene McClendon; two sisters, Alene Storey and Nadine Williamson. Memorials may be made to Main Street Baptist Church in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 707, Elk City, Oklahoma 73648.
