Obituary for Violet Blanche Lay courtesy of the funeral home. Violet Blanche (Lowell) Lay, age 99, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. She was born March 3, 1919 in Washington, OK to Silas Truman Lowell and Dovie Lucie (Martin) Lowell. She was one of twelve children, 8 boys and 4 girls. She grew up mainly in the Oklahoma City, Yukon area and was a graduate of Yukon High School. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Wilburn Henry Lay on January 6, 1940. This union lasted nearly 64 years, until his death. Violet worked many years as a seamstress and did volunteer work for many different organizations. She was very active in Mustang Senior Center and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Mustang. She bowled in several different leagues, loved to dance, play cards and dominos. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilburn, one son Richard and all eleven of her siblings. Survivors include two sons Lowell Thomas Lay and wife Sandra of OKC, Harry Daniel Lay of Mustang, one daughter Judy Toney Gray and husband Irmon of Oklahoma City and daughter in law Eden Lay of Earlsboro, OK. Also by a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeilβs Funeral Service, Mustang, OK with interment following in the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, Oklahoma.
