Bio
Son of Richard Leon Carpenter and Joan Gertrude Allen, who preceded him in death. He lived in various states including Humble, Texas; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Norwich, New York (where he attended high school); Minneapolis, Burnsville, and Prior Lake, Minnesota; and settled in Indiana. He graduated from Clarkson University in St. Lawrence County, New York with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and was employed as a Chemical Engineer for Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis for the past 15 years. He had previously been employed at Emerson Process Management, Rosemount Division. Darryl enjoyed playing guitar, cooking, and building computers. While living in the twin cities area of Minnesota, and before the world-wide web was commonly available, he operated a dial-up Bulletin Board Service (BBS) in his basement. He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years Vickie Carpenter (married September 11, 1999); daughters Bethanne Carpenter and Jessica Carpenter; step-son Matthew Trettel; sisters Toni (Randy) Youngman and Jill Carpenter; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Services entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis.
