Bio

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Richardson of Rockwell Road Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Blackwell was born in Cotton Center. He married Thelma Switzer at Clovis, N.M., in 1949. He served in the Third Army, 13th Armored Division, under General Patton in the European Theatre. He retired as an electrician for the General Services Administration in the old Federal Building. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Walker and Sandra O'Connor, both of Amarillo; a son, Tom Blackwell of Amarillo; one sister, Mary Atkins of Las Vegas; a brother, Walter Blackwell of El Paso; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News May 20, 2001
