Lillian Kvetensky kept the students at Ralston High School filled with food and the people around her filled with joy. Kvetensky, a longtime kitchen and office worker at RHS, died on March 6. She was 86. "She was a lovely lady who people enjoyed being around," said Pat Barker, counseling secretary at RHS. "She got along with everybody." Kvetensky spent many years working in the kitchen at RHS before transitioning over to an office role her remaining years with the school. That's when Barker got an up-close view of how pleasant, and feisty, Kvetensky was. "She had a wonderful sense of humor and was very sharp-witted," Barker said. "Some of the teachers like Ron Siske, Mike Smith or Tim Mosser would come in and she would do their photocopying for them and she would always go back-and-forth with them." Barker said Kvetensky was a baker at heart, which proved advantageous for the office workers. "She loved bringing in treats to the office," Barker said. "She would make cinnamon rolls and puff pastries. She just loved keeping busy around the office." Kvetensky also loved keeping busy outside the office and would host an Independence Day party each year. "She lived right along the parade route and she would invite me and my family each year," Barker said. "She always thought my husband looked like Kenny Rogers. So whenever we would get there, there would be chairs set up on the lawn and she always had a chair with Kenny Rogers' name on it." She was also famous for her love of ladybugs, evidenced by her ladybug coffee cup she kept in the office. "That cup went everywhere she did," Barker said. "It would go missing once in a while and we'd all help to locate it." Barker said Kvetensky made a lasting impact on the school and the community. "Ralston was her home and she was very patriotic," she said. "I know the ladies in the kitchen she worked with were very important to her. Everybody just loved her."
