HURST -- Addie Illene Martin, 94, of Hurst passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2018. She was born in Klondike, the daughter of Lester Essary and Autna Moore Essary. SERVICE: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at the Jones-Walker and Son Chapel, 1209 Live Oak Street, Commerce. Bro. Terry Bryan will officiate and pallbearers will be Marty Martin, Nick Martin, Nolan Martin, J. Martin, Steven Schlappe, and Robert Schlappe. Interment: Shiloh Cemetery in Delta County. Visitation: Will be held one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Martin worked for 28 years for Sears and Roebuck in the catalog department where she served as manager. She married Eldon Martin on December 4, 1943 in Bonham; he preceded her in death in 1986. Addie was deeply devoted to her family, friends, and First United Methodist Church of Hurst, where she was a member for over 60 years. She especially liked the old hymns. She also passed her time by collecting dolls and taking care of her pets, in particular her cat "Buddy". She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon; and a son, Ronald Martin. SURVIVORS: Her daughter, Brenda Schlappe (Robert) of North Richland Hills; a granddaughter, Jennifer Martin (Marty) of Keller; and two grandsons, Steven Schlappe (Michelle) of Hewitt, and J. Martin (Lana) of Crowley. Also surviving her are two great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons.
