Obituary Gazette, The (Colorado Springs, CO) - April 12, 1988 HOWARD J. UNGER, 54, of Denver, a former Colorado Springs resident, died Friday in Denver. He was the owner and operator of Mile-Hi Cleaning Service in Denver. Mr. Unger had been a Colorado Springs police officer. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Horvan-McConaty Mortuary, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver, with Mr. Robert Unger officiating. Entombment will be in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum. Mr. Unger was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Munich, N.D., to John A. and Agnes (Friesen) Unger. He had lived in Colorado 16 years and was a former resident of Omaha, Neb. Mr. Unger served in the armed forces during World War II. He was married Dec. 5, 1986, in Denver to Merilyn Smith, who survives. Mr. Unger also is survived by a son, Stephen of Denver; two daughters, Kimberly Murdoch of Coloraod Springs and Tamara of Denver; six brothers, Erwin, Robert, Norbert, Loran, John and Allan; two sisters, Dorothy Dick and Irene Quiring; and three grandchildren.
