Bio

DALLAS — Robert Unger, 75, died Tuesday. He was born in Munich, N.D., married Erma Fast in 1947 and moved to Dallas that year. In 1951, they moved to Idanha. He was a pastor at Idanha Community Church and drove a log truck. They moved to Dallas in 1953. He opened Bob Unger Appliance in 1966. He received a national award for being one of the best appliance service centers in the United States and won 13 trips to Hawaii from Whirlpool. He closed the store in 1990 and made services calls until retiring in 1999. He was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Kiwanis, and he enjoyed woodworking and woodcutting. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Lorella Flickinger of Salem, Marla DeVilliers of Vancouver, Wash.; sons, Dennis and Phil, both of Dallas; brothers, Bud of Englewood, Colo., Norbert of Lustre, Mont., Loren of Colorado Springs, Colo., Allen of Denver, Frank of Winkler, Manitoba, Canada; sisters, Dorothy Dick of Ritchey, Mont., and Irene Quiring of Dallas; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visiting will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Bollman Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Dallas Cemetery. Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical Bible Church, where he was a member and deacon. Contributions: church missions fund or Dallas Ambulance Memorial Fund, care of the mortuary.
