KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Gerald “Jerry” W. Gogan of Kansas City, Mo., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, with his wife of 47 years, Nancy, and children, Kerri and Kevin Gogan, by his side. A rosary will be at 4 p.m. Friday, with visitation following until the Catholic funeral Mass at 6, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kansas City, Mo. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He is also survived by his brother, John, and four grandsons, Sam, Dexter, Max and Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lola (Luedtke) Gogan, and a sister, Linda Hauschild. Jerry was proud to be from Arcadia. A Cornhusker through thick and thin, his undergrad and master’s degrees were earned from UNL. Jerry served in the Peace Corps in Chile for 2 1/2 years before returning for his PhD in agronomy from Iowa State, where he met Nancy. Jerry spent most of his agronomy career in Kansas City at Farmland as a researcher, educator and author. He was happiest working hard outdoors, so the grass was always greener in his yard. Faith, family and football were very important to him, and he always put others before himself. Arrangements are through White Chapel Funeral Home.
